Massage

June 8th, 2011

Massage is most often a one-on-one profession, and finding the right massage therapist for your needs is important, as there are many types of massage.  I recommend having an interview with your therapist. Ask questions that are important for you, so you can be sure to get your needs met. Also, giving your information to your therapist is just as vital.  Because of the many types of massage, and the many issues a person can have, the written and verbal information you provide and the questions your therapist asks are crucial for a a successful body work session.

Receiving a massage can be one of the most relaxing experiences ever! With warm organic lotions melting into your body by smooth, strong hands, your muscles with melt with pleasure.  Massage is using soft tissue and muscular structure manipulation techniques to the body that allow you to release tension and other issues.

Massage is a safe therapeutic art, considered by many to be a vehicle for mental, emotional and of course, physical health. People seek massage for many reasons—including to reduce the daily stress of living, which can lead to chronic illness and disease.

Massage is a way of honoring our bodies and is something that we do for ourselves. It is one way of putting ourselves first. We all need to be touched in a loving way, and massage is the art of loving touch.

Massage is great for many physical ailments. From chronic back pain, fibromyaliga, arthritis, tension headaches, foot problems, carpal tunnel syndrome to MS, cancer, lymphatic problems, poor circulation, and clenching your jaw, (just to name a few) massage helps to smooth and sooth away pain and suffering. Massage also treats issues such as mental stress, emotional suffering, depression and anxiety.

The way we experience our physical self on the mental plane (our body image) can become habitual and may generate habitual patterns of muscle tension. Because regularly scheduled massage positively affects body and mind, massage can help us release physical and mental patterns of tension, enhancing our ability to experience our bodies in a more positive way. (No matter what our shape or size is!)

As an Energetic Healer, I am very aware that there is an energy body as well as a physical body. I integrate this aspect of healing and bring in higher vibrational energy during  massage strokes. This also aids in clear blockages in the tissues.

How often does one need a massage? Weekly is the optimum choice. But even bi-weekly or once a month will help change your body in many amazing ways. Regular massage also encourages an awareness of the body just as it enhances our ability to relax.

And, as athletes know, lactic acid build-up can be extremely painful. Receiving body work on a regular basis will clear lactic acid and improve your athletic endurance.
